Behind the Scenes

Day 47. 152 pages, 73,693 words.

Man, what a day yesterday turned out to be. Busy at work, and feeling a bit more positive about things, but still very much meh.

Mrs. Hatboy got our car through its annual check-up, then drove it home to find that the rear wheel had completely shredded. And the exhaust pipe had fallen off. Oh well, at least it got through the check-up. And we would have needed new tyres and exhaust sooner or later. Just … man, what timing.

So hey, check this out. It’s a video play-by-play put together by my brilliant cover artist Gabriel Gajdoš, showing the layers and construction of the Blaran cover.

Another reason for my renewed positivity is this spike in my metrics for the past few days. The holiday was an interesting experiment in how my life would go if I was able to quit my day job and write full-time, but probably not completely representative of how things would go. I think I would get more done.

metrics (16)

I think I did write more than 100 words a day over the past week, but certainly the last couple of big wads were written in the last couple of days.

Now I just need to keep up the momentum. Which, yes, this time I am doing by flinging some fun DVD extras at you and then getting back to work.

So cool! Thanks for sharing that video! And about your car…I think Dubya would tell that inspector he’s “doing a heckuva job, Finnie.”

Bahahaha, yes. Now my ever-resourceful father-in-law has found a new set of tyres for us so I will have to go out and change them as soon as he gets here. Lots of fun in the snow.
