Day 27. 93 pages, 44,388 words.
I know, I know. I’m working on it. I’ve got most of Blaran‘s editorial comments implemented now and am waiting on the cover. Man, this one is going to knock your socks off. It’s so damn good.
I had my best month so far in terms of Amazon sales in January. It was enough to pay our electricity bill, anyway, and that was a bit of a whopper considering how cold January was and how dire our firewood situation became. It’s not enough to retire on, but it gives me this nice warm feeling (like the electricity itself did, really) to know that, while my skills have been paying the bills for some eleven years already, my talent is also starting to pull its weight.
That sort of self-aggrandisement makes me uncomfortable, but you came to my blog. So there you go.
My point is, someone’s reading the books, even if nobody feels strongly enough about them to write a review lately. I’m not saying this to make non-reviewers in my circle of friends feel bad, it’s just a fact for the time being that I haven’t gotten that many reviews … indeed the last couple, following my Eejit give-away, were pretty negative anyway. Evidently the getting-books-for-free crowd are way harder to please than the paying-money-for-them crowd. I also had a bit of a mess around with my Amazon product page, finally getting the volume numbers into the e-book versions as well as the paperbacks, and switching my categories up so the series is consistent and finds its way into the same genre stream. All that jargon actually means something, I’m told.
In the meantime, I still have day-job work to do. It’s all going well, I suppose. As well as can be expected.
Here’s another beautiful video to cheer up your Wednesday.
I was going to wax philosophical about how few evils in the world are committed by cosplayers, but I think we can take it as read. We’re just a superior class of people. There’s no shame in being beaten by the best.
