The Brave New Dawn of 2016

Well, technically that’s three, so it looks like the blog – and the universe – is saved for another year. Well done dreameling, BRKN and Cat Protocol. Indeed, special props and Internet Awards for Cat, who followed through with a perfect illustrated companion for the whole universe-saving caper.

Mmm. Potatoes and capers.

Sadly, the universe being saved also means I don’t get any more time off and need to get back to work with my daily blogging.

Well, I’m going to ease into it, because 2016 is pretty new and I’m not sure if it fits me yet. Last thing I want to do is bend over in it too fast and tear the seat out.

Also, I totally had to give BRKN and Cat some clues, meaning this wasn’t a legit saving. I think there might still be some rumbling in the substrata. All the more reason to start slow and treat this year as exceedingly unstable, in my opinion.

Why even force yourself to a daily schedule? Where’s that written? Why not do every other day or once a week? You’re already writing tons off-blog anyway.

A couple of big reasons and a lot of little ones.

      1) It’s a discipline thing. It not only refreshes my writerly palate to get out of the Final Fall of Man for an hour or two and write something (usually) random, but it also means that even if I don’t write anything much that day, I’m still writing something. It’s worked for the past year or two, and I’ve enjoyed a lot of writing success and no writer’s block.

      2) Once I get into the next book, the blog is where I mark my daily progress and metrics.

  2. It was an honour to be part of the caper, so the clue is much appreciated! The Evil Side of the Inc. doesn’t really mind cheating a bit, either. 😉

I’m with Cat. I feel no shame.
