THE FORCE IS HNNNNNGNNGH

Okay, so let’s talk about the new trailer. Briefly, because my phone is dying and I’m looking after Toop and I don’t know if this will work.

I don’t even know if that link will work. But you should have seen the trailer by now.

So, it looks pretty nice. Encouraging, I’d say. Seems as though this can’t fail. I don’t remember if I got the same feeling from the Episode I trailer. Certainly not II and III. There was just too much unfamiliar stuff. And what we’re seeing now is old and dusty and real, somehow. Not just the setting, but the practical effects and all. Very nice.

So, I know that’s Luke’s speech (adjusted slightly) at the start. Are we thinking this will be a sign of Hamill’s return? Well he’s in IMDB for the movie, so…

I loved that crashed Star Destroyer scene, that was lovely. I’ve always wondered just how tough they are. A structure like that, that size, seems to be able to take incredible stress without collapsing. Ahh, nerds probably argue about that somewhere. Still, lovely scene.

I probably didn’t care about Vader’s mask as much as a lot of other people I’ve seen. My immediate thought was just that this was what was, left after he was burned on Endor, and Luke or someone pulled it sadly from the ashes and mourned over it a bit before moving on. I don’t know.

Nice to see Han and Chewie back, if only because it means they make an appearance. The whole movie doesn’t need to be about them, but I’m totally in favour of making this a fanboy nostalgia trip. The neckbeards have been hurt enough by this franchise, they, can’t take much more. Poor things.

I know. They’re going to be miserable no matter what. But that’s their problem. I’m going to be positive about this one.

I guess you haven’t followed the casting and production news? Luke, Han, and Leia are all back, and apparently take center stage in this first one, alongside the new youngsters (who will then have more of the focus in two and three).

Really liked the new trailer as well. Got maybe even a bit teary-eyed. Maybe.

There’s more, but typing on the phone with just my left hand is really hard. Sleeping daughter has appropriated the right.

I’m very hopeful, too…this looks like it will be awesome.

But…”neckbeards”? You use that word but I don’t think it means what you think it means. Typically it’s a term feminists (militant ones, usually) to describe cretinous (in their opinion) men. Who are often hairy-faced. I wasn’t aware these were the primary Star Wars fans who hated the prequels….

Interesting! In my world, it refers to the Comic Book Guy-esque old school nerds who go to conventions and signings in their trenchcoats and fedoras, and hate on things with a snobbery usually reserved for the extreme upper classes.

But I can see how there’d be a very high overlap between the two types.
