Excitement and activity is rising to boiling point over the Deadpool movie.
Since Deadpool is something of a totem superhero for me – any superhero you dress up as when you’re a grown-arse man has to have some sort of significance – I guess it’s fair to say that I’m interested in seeing this happen. And sure, I have nothing against Reynolds taking on the role. He’s got a bad rap over this Green Lantern thing, but I never saw the movie or read the comics on that one so I don’t care. I think I’ve actually only seen him in R.I.P.D. and (as Wade Wilson) in X-Men Origins: Wolverine. And I liked both of those.
Well, at least the colour scheme and general style, even if Edpool is an entirely different animal.
 Yeah yeah. No arse.
As I mentioned in my R.I.P.D. review, I was also aware that Reynolds had copped a lot of hate over his attempt at Deadpool in X-Men Origins: Wolverine. But he hadn’t done too badly as Wade, and whatever happened to Deadpool in that movie wasn’t his fault. I wasn’t that into the comics when I saw X-Men Origins: Wolverine, so I wasn’t too outraged. The concept had potential, although I am glad to see they have confirmed this is not the Deadpool they’re going to be working with for this new movie.
It also looks like Ajax will be in it. Although obviously all bets are off until we actually see the movie. To be honest, a friend sent me an old leaked script from years and years ago, and there are strong suggestions that this is the one they’re going to be using. Minus maybe one or two outdated references and other changes, but still. This was an awesome script.
Not to over-analyse, but the Deadpool test footage featured the same music – Angel of the Morning – at the end. So … okay, so I’m over-analysing.
Anyway, I’m feeling myself beginning to fall down the geek rabbit-hole now so I will sign off and get on with my life.
